Sexual Orientation or Gender Orientation… or what? Straight, Bi, Gay, Non-sexual? Sex or Gender? So many questions and it can be so hard to understand. Let me see if I can help.
What I’ve noticed is people are more directly attracted to Gender Expression and/or Gender Identity more so than the sexual organs at first glance. It is the gender expression that attracts someone and sometimes the organs may or may not turn them away. But gender expression will immediately turn them away IF the person is NOT the gender they are seeking.
Examples:
Mostly straight men are attracted to me.
Why?
Because my gender is female and it is the gender I express. I have a phallus but they are attracted to me as a woman. Therefore a man who is attracted to me isn’t considered gay… and isn’t necessarily bisexual either.
The reason for this is…
A cis-woman born with female parts sometimes might wear a strap-on phallus for play with a guy who is ONLY attracted to women.
Does this make him gay?
Why would it? She is a woman after all. Woman/Female is the opposite gender… he is a man/male. Same thing goes for a Transgender Woman Pre or Post-Op. She happens to have her strap-on permanently attached unless she goes through surgery. She is a Woman and is Female none-the-less.
HE is attracted HER either Cis or Trans. And if HE is ONLY attracted to SHE then he is straight.
he + she = straight.
Same thing goes for a woman: If a woman is attracted to a Cis or TransWoman she is either Lesbian or Bisexual.
Asexual: Now the sex part is aside completely…
Example of an Asexual relationship (to the point of the note): If a person is an Asexual Woman and is attracted romantically/intellectually (not sexually) to a TransWoman ONLY then she is a Lesbian.
she + she = lesbian
Pansexual or Panromantic: are all-encompassing. Gender and/or organs doesn’t matter. Only the person.
Summary of my experience:
The most guys that are attracted to me ARE straight. Some say heteroflexible (so in a way here it almost makes more gender options)… then a much smaller percentage say bisexual or pansexual… once in a while a gay man because I’m that good looking (LoL) and he is too ;)… or he is confused.
A more personal look:
So if a man is attracted to me and someone says he is gay because of it, then that is equal to calling me a man. I am a woman no matter what… and to be called a man is highly offensive.
A question I’m presenting to you…
So if Sexual Orientation is mostly based on being attracted to a person’s Gender Expression and/or Identity, what if instead of calling it Sexual Orientation… we called it Gender Orientation? Or just at least understand that’s what it means…
If anyone has any respectable questions I’ll be glad to answer.
